Alexandra Silverthorne is a Washington-DC based consultant specializing in practical solutions for community-based non-profits, artists, and small business owners. Her skills with both design and management allow her to contribute to various aspects of running an organization or business. Whether you need web or graphic design, financial management, or program development, Alexandra is ready to help!
A native of Washington, DC, Alexandra attended Connecticut College where she studied government, philosophy, and art. Upon graduation in 2002, Alexandra moved back to DC. From 2002 to 2004, Alexandra got the opportunity to fine-tune her professional skills by working on a wide range of projects, including recruiting and organizing election day volunteers, managing a ceramics studio, teaching community arts workshops, launching a spring fundraising campaign for a national political party, and running a summer program for and teaching photography to Vietnamese-American youth. From 2004 - 2007, she “settled down” to a regular 9-5 job with an international environmental NGO.
Alexandra participated in “Design Inquiry: Truth & Message” at Maine College of Art in June 2004, and has taken courses in graphic design at the Corcoran College of Art & Design. She recently enrolled in the Master of Fine Arts program at Maine College of Art. Alexandra continues to exhibit her photography throughout the DC-region. She has received several grants from the D.C. Commission on the Arts & Humanities, as well as the Puffin Foundation, and in 2006, three of her photographs were selected for the DC City Hall Art Collection.
